THREE LITTLE PIGS — WITH A TWIST by the Kwan Family & Uncle Daniel

We have tweaked the well-loved classic story of the Three Little Pigs to reflect what’s happening in our daily family life, and remind us of the lesson we are learning as a whole family. Being sinned against, we are so much like the Brother Pigs, who tend to hold grudges or even try to take revenge out of anger and frustration. But because of the unending mercy and compassion God faithfully lavishes on us every brand new day, we desire to extend that grace and love to one another, just like what the Little Pig does to the Big Bad Wolf. His forgiveness and salvation gives us strength and hope to face our recurrent failures, and start all over again as a new creation in Jesus every single day. The joy of the Big Bad Wolf is the joy of us in Jesus!

We all loved the idea of putting together a puppet show when our oldest boy Paul suggested it. Why Three Little Pigs? We love Lamentations 3:22-23 and the hymn Great is Thy Faithfulness. We recite the scriptures and sing the hymn always. The words “we are not consumed…” in the verses bring to our minds the scene of the wolf falling into the boiling pot of water and being cooked in the original version – it is “consumed”. That’s why we decided to tweak this classic story. Just happened Christine’s brother came to visit from HK, so we invited Uncle Daniel to join us. We made everything from scratch, the cardboard theatre, cardboard puppets, paper collage backdrops and scripts, utilizing our different talents. We enjoyed the project so much and it made a very special family memory.

22 The Lords acts of mercy indeed do not end,
For His compassions do not fail.
23 They are new every morning;(Lamentations 3:22-23)
