A Generation for the Cultural Mission - A Unique Life Filled with Wisdom

Prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane by Yufu Jiang & Jun Feng

This work is a radio drama adapted from the Bible. It was created by 18 co-workers. The creation time was March-April 2020, when the epidemic just started. The recording locations were all over the United States, and the editing locations were California and Indiana.
It was the eve of Easter, but suddenly the whole of California was closed, the church was closed, and I was quarantined at home for the first time.
I am the director, one of the screenwriters, and one of the editors of this work. Due to the closure of the city, everyone cannot go out, and they hope to gather together to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus and preach the gospel. Some good news from heaven on a darkened earth.
After thinking over and over again and praying unceasingly, we started the preparation of this script, writing the script and forming a team.
Thanks to God’s guidance. I thought it was difficult to find someone during the epidemic. In addition, our church is a church where there are far more girls than boys. After the script came out, I was worried about male characters. But God’s miraculous preparations helped me find them from churches all over the world. Many young male co-workers and some female co-workers are very willing to devote their time to participate in the creation of this play.

We rehearsed 3 times in the meeting on zoom for a period of one week, during which we also prayed and encouraged each other. Many people were won by God during the participation in this drama, and were moved by God’s love again. God’s love inspired us to face such difficulties Under the circumstances, use a special way to complete the creation of this play.
Since the co-workers are scattered everywhere, we use the method of recording separately. The co-workers record their lines into different devices sentence by sentence, and the audio clips recorded in different places and places are collected sentence by sentence. The script, through editing and editing in the later stage, presents the story in its entirety. The miraculous work makes us feel as if we have never been separated. Although the body is separated, the spirit is one.

The whole work is more than an hour long from the narration on Palm Sunday to the resurrection and ascension of Christ. This section is an excerpt from the scriptures, which mainly presents the prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane, the different performances of Jesus and his disciples, and the prayer of Jesus before God. Let me see more deeply the Lord’s holiness, justice and love and our weakness. Thank God that by His saving grace we have been reconciled to the Father. The prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane reflects the humility of Jesus’ obedience to death, and his love to the disciples and the world to the end, which is really touching.
I hope that the work will bring you back to the place where Jesus prayed when you listen quietly, and also see that before he was arrested, he still showed his heart of expanding the kingdom of heaven with self-sacrifice and love. Thank you for everything God has done, and may the glory be to God the Father.

Luke 22:39-47;Matthew 26:36-45,Mark 14:32-42,John 12:27-33

39 And He came out and went, as was His habit, to the Mount of Olives; and the disciples also followed Him. 40 Now when He arrived at the place, He said to them, “Pray that you do not come into temptation.” 41 And He withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and began to pray, 42 saying, “Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me; yet not My will, but Yours be done.” 43 [ Now an angel from heaven appeared to Him, strengthening Him. 44 And being in agony, He was praying very fervently; and His sweat became like drops of blood, falling down upon the ground]. 45 When He rose from prayer, He came to the disciples and found them sleeping from sorrow, 46 and He said to them, “Why are you sleeping? Get up and pray that you do not come into temptation.”47 While He was still speaking, behold, a crowd came, and the one called Judas, one of the twelve, was leading the way for them; and he approached Jesus to kiss Him. (Luke 22:39-47)

36 Then Jesus *came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and *told His disciples, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.” 37 And He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee with Him, and began to be grieved and distressed. 38 Then He *said to them, “My soul is deeply grieved, to the point of death; remain here and keep watch with Me.”

39 And He went a little beyond them, and fell on His face and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as You will.” 40 And He *came to the disciples and *found them sleeping, and He *said to Peter, “So, you men could not keep watch with Me for one hour? 41 Keep watching and praying, so that you do not come into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

42 He went away again a second time and prayed, saying, “My Father, if this cup cannot pass away unless I drink from it, Your will be done.” 43 Again He came and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy. 44 And He left them again, and went away and prayed a third time, saying the same thing once more. 45 Then He *came to the disciples and *said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Behold, the hour is at hand and the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners. (Matthew 26:36-45)

32 They *came to a place named  Gethsemane; and He *said to His disciples, “Sit here until I have prayed.” 33 And He *took with Him Peter,  James, and John, and began to be very distressed and troubled. 34 And He *said to them, “My soul is deeply grieved, to the point of death; remain here and  keep watch.” 35 And He went a little beyond them, and fell to the ground and began praying that if it were possible, the hour might  pass Him by. 36 And He was saying, “Abba!  Father! All things are possible for You; remove this cup from Me; yet not what I will, but what You will.” 37 And He *came and *found them sleeping, and *said to Peter, “Simon, are you asleep? Could you not  keep watch for one hour? 38  Keep watching and praying, so that you will not come into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” 39 And again He went away and prayed, saying the same  words. 40 And again He came and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy; and they did not know what to say in reply to Him. 41 And He *came the third time, and *said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? That is enough. The hour has come; behold, the Son of Man is being  betrayed into the hands of sinners. 42 Get up, let’s go; behold, the one who is betraying Me is near!”(Mark 14:32-42)

27 “Now My soul has become troubled; and what am I to say? ‘Father, save Me from this hour’? But for this purpose I came to this hour. 28 Father, glorify Your name.” Then a voice came out of heaven: “I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.” 29 So the crowd who stood by and heard it were saying that it had thundered; others were saying, “An angel has spoken to Him!” 30 Jesus responded and said, “This voice has not come for My sake, but for yours. 31 Now judgment is upon this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out. 32 And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to Myself.” 33 Now He was saying this to indicate what kind of death He was going to die. (John 12:27-33)
