Dear Beloved Brothers and Sisters,
“Do everything in love” (1 Corinthians 16:14)
On April 30, Presence hosted an intergenerational event called “Smartphone Workshop 101” for the seniors in our community. Thirty-five elderly men and women came from all parts of the Greater Los Angeles area to Presence’s office in the City of Industry to learn about the “smart” features on their phones. Our carefully recruited youth volunteers helped them to retrieve forgotten passwords, set up email accounts, use GPS, switch to handwriting-input, install new apps, etc. These seniors had their phones for some time but have never been able to use the features until now.
Presence’s services in our community also include a “Sexual Harassment Prevention Training for Church Pastors”. We shared about California State and Federal protection laws with more than sixty pastors. We also hosted 3rd annual “Resume Writing and Interview Skills Workshop”. Several students signed up for the one-on-one coaching sessions to improve their job searching skills. By the grace of God, another previouslycoached student also came in to share her joy after she was successfully hired!
To continue serving our community, here are our events in the upcoming months:
6/5 Helping Teenagers with Stress, Emotions and Depression (CBMC)
6/25 Smartphone Workshop 102 (2:00pm-4:00pm)
6/26 Parenting Workshop (SGVAC Arcadia, CA)
8/1 Soft Skills Summer Course for High School Students
8/6 Heart to Heart Talk with Your Children (10:00am-12:00pm)
8/6 Family Conference – about Gender and Ethics (TBD)
8/14 Children’s Different Learning Styles (SGVAC Arcadia, CA)
This is where you come in. Presence couldn’t have done this without your financial support. Creating these programs, designing and printing flyers, and mass mailing distribution are all part of regular expenses. By the end of April, we had a projected expense of $132,901, but we have received donations of only $78,553. Therefore Presence is operating on a deficit of $54,348. We thank you and your prayers in advance and God bless you!
